USA Hockey registration includes a binary gender question. If you are so inclined you may copy the following letter and email it to: email@example.com
I was entering my registration for USA hockey and noticed that the gender options are required and limited to male and female. I play on a league and coach on a team where some of the athletes don’t fit neatly in one of those categories and nationally there are many athletes who do not. I wondered why only these two options were available and required for registration. It would be easy and appropriate to add other gender options or “decline to answer” as options minimally. It’s particularly confusing in light of USA Hockey’s newly ratified trans-inclusion policy (I’m sure you are aware though I offer for your reference the policy here:https://cdn3.sportngin.com/attachments/document/8a0b-1766565/USA_Hockey_Transgender_Athlete_Eligibility_Policy.pdf?_ga=2.109113287.37295163.1548347375-712316268.1548347375). I would assume this is an oversight and hopefully this can be quickly corrected to align with internal policies and current societal norms.
